I Wanted To Do More Of A Personal Post Today About IM And My Future Goals

I’m not going to try to sell you anything at all I’m just going to write from the heart what comes out is what I will publish So here goes.

When you first start to look at  Internet Marketing Business it looks  like you just entered a foreign land you have no idea what is waiting for you. This is how I felt when I first started looking for ways to make money online. I felt determined at first, then you start buying program after program,  Training after training with zero success,You try a bunch of software programs you might even lash out at people that are trying to help you with sarcastic remarks, because you become are frustrated. I get that I’ve been there myself.

I’ll be honest with you I get frustrated as well, I know I give a lot of help in forums and emails and such it does take a big toll on your life both personal and business. You have to find a balance, lately my balance has been tilted towards business and that’s not a good thing to neglect family.

Here is Me and My Family at my Daughters First Birthday

My Family

But there are certain goals that need to me met so you can have sustainable income for that segment of your business if its not meeting your goals you cut your losses in that section and move on, this is something I’ve learned for all the years working in the financial center in  NYC many years ago. You pick up a lot when you are just a tech and they ignore you hehe.

So where is this fine line that you need to walk?

There are other factors that come with running a business that most won’t tell you it’s freaking hard work! No matter if you outsource or not it’s hard work especially if you go head to head in the IM niche directly you are competing with sharks. Some call me a shark, I think I’m more like a bear and no not a panda. More like Yogi Bear looking for the next piconic basket.

Now I have to make a hard decision in my life. Do I continue at the pace that I am going or do a I back off from the lime light and just work on my personal business?

See this is a question that most won’t ask themselves at first but after a few years and you start going into a position where you are helping people but the rate of return is not really balanced. Where you are giving more information than you should be earning.

So I have to find the balance in that as well.

I love SEO.. I love the free traffic it gives me .

I love helping others with there business

I love answering questions in Marketing forums..

But at what cost to me?

To be honest My private business is great but my IM Business could be better and this is the side I need to fortify more.

So I making a hard decision today Exactly 7 Days before my 41st birthday.

I am going to have to limit my knowledge in public, it’s just a hard decision I have to make, after all we are in the business of making money.

I can completely walk away from the Internet Marketing Arena all together and make a decent quiet living and no one will know who I am but it would not matter because my stress level of worrying about if the person I’m helping is ranking, getting traffic and there site is making money won’t truly ever go away.

See a few months back I took upon about 30 personal students I have been helping most of them on there sites and now I am helping them get ranked as well. I really want to get them to succeed but to be honest the price point that I offered this bonus from what I am doing for many of them is to low of a return. So I will probably will not do that again unless it’s a product priced over 1k then maybe.

This is a decision I am making from now on and I have to be fair to me, my wife and daughter since I have to spend more time with them as well.

Speaking of which here is the picture of my little love isn’t she cute 🙂

My Talkative Daugther 🙂

At this point in my life I have to think of her well being and her college fund!

My Final Decision To Advance My Personal Internet Marketing Experience

So The decision I making today is to slow down on Forum Marketing and Concentrate on my Business basically work smarter and not harder. I hope all of you that follow me understand that this is not that I am abandoning anything I just have to do more on this leg of my business, to make it really worth my while. I know that might sound selfish to some but like I said we are all here for one Goal to make money and to have a better life. I don’t want to leave this market place but for my sanity, health and family I am throttling back the amount of time I do put in giving free help.

I do want to say to the ones that do reach out to me for help I will always be there to assist you in every way I can but I strongly feel that I am better suited to creating my own courses where I can train you better than answer questions sporadically. I feel that it’s a win win for all of us, you gain my expertise and I make this side of my business more profitable.

If you feel that I am in the wrong about this way of thinking, then consider this how many products have you purchased from people that have left you in the lurch or are just stuff that doesn’t work anymore? How about those hundreds of daily wso’s you think those are truly there to help only? No they are there because they can target a hungry audience and make money. Granted a lot of WSO’s are plain shit and not worth the space in your hard drive, but there are gems in the mix. But it’s hard to figure out the Gems out of the pile of horse manure. So I mostly stay away from that arena.

So you see my point, Like right now I am finally finishing this link building course that was supposed to be a report and just kept getting bigger and bigger and I did offer it as a bonus before but now I am going to give them not just the one report but the complete course that in my eyes is worth 100 times what they paid for the product I offered the bonus initially for. Link building BTW is one key element that everyone is discounting right now, which it shouldn’t be discounted but I am not going to get into that right now.

I will pledge to you right now that the only things I release are products and/or training that I  use or will use  myself to grow my business that I know deep in my heart will help you to progress as well.   I hope that’s fair enough to all of you.

Those of you that are in my one on one I am still available to all of you don’t worry I keep my promises.  😀

In six month’s or So I’ll do a follow up on my progression in Internet Marketing and my shift into this mode see how that ends up.  If it ends up the way I’m hoping it will I’ll teach you how to do the same as well.

Sincerely

Mario Soto Jr

    Mario,

It was a great reading understanding where you are in your Internet Marketing career. I am 25 and have been in the web field off and on for 5 years. I am finally getting more stable in the field. It was a battle to stay in it, because there is so much to learn. However there is much reward after the long hard work you put in. I couldn't imagine trying to learn everything and supporting a family. I wish you best and keep family first!

The fun part is that you never stop learning, I don't want to boast but I know a ton about SEO, it took me years to get here, both bad and Good. I am not leaving the niche just attacking it in a different angle that will benefit more, It's a win win because they gain the practical knowledge while getting a straight shooter, I hate running around in a circle when I can punch through the middle and get the same result. So that's how I teach anyone that has seen how I train knows that about me.
Family does come first but my love of getting others to a level they want to be is also a deep desire I have, it's hard to change that. 🙂

Mario, you have been over-the-top generous in sharing your knowledge and expertise with so many. Your passion to see others succeed is astounding. But like Rochelle said, your decision should be applauded . . . family comes first. So if re-calibrating your focus means pulling back on your availability, I cannot see anyone faulting you for that. So follow your heart, do what's best for your business and most of all treasure the time with your too-cute-for-words daughter!

Hey Mario it takes courage to be selfish. There is nothing wrong with helping others I have benefited from your help personally and when you have helped other. However, when there becomes an imbalance something suffers. It's great you're refocusing on YOU and your family. The rest of us will get on just fine.

    Cheers!

hey Mario! Sounds like you are making the smartest move you could make: putting the family above anything else. if I had such a lovely family like yours, I would probably do the same.

But, I really think you will be back. I don;t think you can stay away from all of this. You will miss helping people, and seeing them succeed after they followed your advice. Not sure how you'll make your return, maybe in the form of a coaching program (I would really like to see that), but I really think you will be back to the forum, helping people like you used to do.

It's in your blood, I know it. 🙂

From the deepest of my heart I know you're taking a smart decision.

Our family is by far the most important part of our lives.

So yes slow down your forum involvement, increase your business & spend more time w/ your wife & your lovely daughter.

There is no space for regrets in the future. Spend more time with them right now. They need you day by day not just in 10 years because your work is eating all your spare time.

You get the opportunity to take a smart decision right now & I understand it 101% of course some people will be disappointed but hey anyway you can't please everyone…

Refocus on your business & your Family!

    Take Care of both!

    Wishing you all the Best!

    Joe.

John I've always been as honest and straight as possible. I feel deep in my heart that this industry is coming into a shift, my hopes is that it's for the better. I can easily promote tons of stuff but I don't because to be honest most of the time I don't see any real value so I don't.

Maybe it has to do with the way my Parents raised me or just that I can't get passed the part of just making a buck just to make it.

If it's not worth it to me I definitely won't show it to my IM family 🙂

I just feel that it's time to spread my knowledge in a different light that will help more in the process, at least I'm hoping it will. 😉

    Hi Mario,

I think you are making the right decision. I get the same promotions from 12 people or more every time someone launches a product and it's kind of ridiculous. You have talents, strengths and a big heart, and if you're not getting a return on investment from the time you put in, you are right to change your focus.

Everything you described above is completely true. Focus your time and effort on people who aren't getting 12 of the same product offers in their email at once. Focus on people where you can make a difference and who have the budget to pay you fair market value for your expertise.

You don't have to drop out, but I would definitely change the customer base. You are worth so much more than what you're getting now.

    Please stay in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Holly

No offense to any of the other Guru's I think your no nonsense approach to this business is much needed. Less hype, more ok you need to do this. That is what you bring and your strength. I look forward to seeing some courses come from you.

    Hey Mario,

Knowing you for a few years now, I am constantly amazed at how much time you devote to helping others. With two kids myself, both at home while I (try) to work in the basement office, I sometimes barely have time to write on the forum we all frequent. This business often sucks up all your time, and there have been occasions when I stretch out some work into the evening, when I should be spending time with my family. We sometimes need to realize why (those of us who are parents) are in this business in the first place – to support our family.

I got into this business strictly because I've always wanted to work from home, and after the birth of my first daughter, I knew there was no way I could go back to a 9-5 cubicle. I never regretted the decision, but man, this is a very tough business, as we all know! The payoff, though, is being able to volunteer at your child's school, never missing a recital or concert, and watching them grow up 24/7, rather than just on weekends.

You've been a great help, Mario, and I completely applaud your very personal decision – you put a real human face on this business … oh, and your daughter is absolutely adorable!

Hey Chris Good to Hear from you I totally agree the reward of being home does have it's perks. That's one of the reasons I'm doing what I am doing now. I don't want to miss events my Daughter has growing up. I know some friends of mine that miss so much because they work so many hours and don't see the events that is important like you've mentioned above.

      Thanks I try 🙂

Mario, I just read your whole post…. I gotta say, congratulations on realizing what is most important in life. Your family is critical..

As a new marketer for the last 2 years (even though I have not made money)… even I had to come to a realization and get an all new paradigm shift as to how I'm approaching my online business ventures. Lately, I have striving extremely hard to live a more "balanced" life as well.

Between family, church, online marketing, and a full time job, I have learned from myself of what not to get too involved in so that I don't overload in one certain aspect of my life. I can tell you now though that since I have started doing so, I have noticed an increased pleasure in my life as a whole. I am much happier, and see things differently. I am even more excited to get online everyday since I started all this.

Need less to say, I applaud your decision making for your life, family, and business. I mean, everyone needs to earn a living! I really do appreciate all the helpful advice that you have shared with me in the past (like in the Rank And Pillage course for example). I understand where your coming from and respect your decision. I am quite sure many others will be feeling the same way.

    Here's to moving forward!

Mario, I've thought for some time that you should be more into creating and selling your own courses. I'm glad that you've helped people so freely in the past, since many of us have benefited a lot from your help, but I've also been expecting and hoping that you would offer more of your own courses too with all of the knowledge that you have acquired in this field. So yes, I think you're definitely on the right track with this idea, and "should" be doing a lot more creating and selling of your own products.

    Hey there Mario –

I see where you are. I'm 63 and I've been there -a few times.

Life is too short. Your daughter will be (at her age) only once.

    Don't miss it.

My wife and I long for the days when our two sons were shorter than us.

    (They're in their 30s -it's been awhile).

What brought the craziness into sharp focus for me was when my son came home from the Navy before a 6 month cruise. We were cleaning out his bedroom and closet so I could paint the room. It was full of all the stuff he accumulated since he was 10 yrs old -Which included clothes that he had worn in high school and outgrown.

What got me like a knife through the heart was when we pulled (not one, but) two winter coats from the closet (that he had worn and outgrown in his teen years) that I didn't recognize or remember seeing him in.

That's the degree to which I was focused on making a living -not becoming a millionaire, just keeping the mortgage paid, etc. It entailed working out-of-town sometimes (not always) and for a few short years, operating a contracting business in town.

When you find yourself in a situation like that it's like a time warp. I don't really have any memories of my 40s. My head was down and I was moving in fast forward. When I looked up, I was in my 50s (which is another story).

As things have a way of working themselves out, my family is still intact, thankfully. I fully understand the stresses that cause families to break apart.

That period of time I was in 'fast forward' is gone and lost forever. It's not coming back.

I think it's good that you are on top of that. The mere ability to realize that you need to strike a balance is one giant step in the right direction.

Congratulations on that. I'm surmising the decision wasn't an easy one.

    Best regards,

    Dave Christensen

Thanks For Sharing Dave, The past three years for me have moved so fast that I missed a lot and I can't do that anymore. I love my wife and Daughter, will do more for them than anything in this world. But money is not everything for me either if that was the case I can go back to wall street and live a miserable life but that life is just not for me.

This business if you strike the perfect balance can work out best for everyone people you teach, your personal life be it your family or just having fun and don't forget yourself.

I'm also starting a new partnership that I have not talked about either which will put in another level in the fitness niche, I'll tell you guys more about that when it happens.

To be honest I started to workout again and it felt great, it gave me energy, plush the time that I am at the gym is giving me a place where I can reflect everything in life.

You are right it's not an easy decision to throttle back but I like I said before I am stepping back and planning my actions more carefully so I can have greater impact, my hopes with all this is to reach more so they can move forward with a profitable business and have a good balanced life at the same time.

Mario you are a rock for a lot of us. I met you through HSA and you were the light at the end of "many" a tunnel. I would have to say, pay yourself what your worth. We often discount ourselves and at what cost. I give a lot, but at the end of the day I need to make money.

I will always trust your recommendations, I have not been steered wrong yet. Although sometimes I do have to step back and use the tools I have already.

Wish you well Mario, just remember that without Health, what is Wealth worth?. If you ever need help in that direction let me know as I know a lot of self employed people tend to work really hard and health takes a back seat.

The fun part is trying to figure out the good emails from the bad, eventually you'll figure it out. I think most marketers forget that it's a human being behind the email and just "blast" hate that word by the way everything under the sun with no regard at some point they'll just get sent to spam folder.
